Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Boston Birth Village (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing our website (www.bostonbirthvillage.com), utilizing our Members Portal or File Share library, purchasing gift cards, enrolling in classes, or booking birth and postpartum doula services, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.

Please read these terms carefully before engaging with our digital platform or enrolling in our programs.

 

1. Overview & Scope of Services

Boston Birth Village provides non-medical birth and postpartum doula care, childbirth education, newborn care workshops, and community parent support groups in Newton, MA, and the greater Boston area.

Our website and digital portals are designed to provide educational content, facilitate event registrations, host community interactions, and streamline communication between clients and our care team.

 

2. Non-Medical Disclaimer

Boston Birth Village and its staff, doulas, and educators do not provide medical diagnosis, clinical treatment, or medical advice.

 

  • Scope of Doula Practice: Doulas provide physical comfort, emotional support, evidence-based information, and advocacy support. Doulas do not perform clinical tasks, including but not limited to vaginal examinations, fetal heart rate monitoring, blood pressure checks, or medical diagnoses.

  • No Doctor-Patient Relationship: Content provided on our website, blog, file downloads, or during community circles is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical care.

  • Medical Decisions: Always consult your physician, midwife, or qualified healthcare provider regarding any medical condition, labor complications, or health decisions for yourself or your infant.

 

3. Class Registrations, Payments & Cancellations

A. Booking and Payment

  • Full payment or an agreed-upon deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your spot in childbirth classes, newborn workshops, or group cohorts.

  • Payments are processed securely through our authorized third-party payment gateways.

 

B. Class & Event Cancellation Policy

  • Client Cancellations: Cancellations made 14 days or more prior to the start of a class, workshop, or cohort are eligible for a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations made less than 14 days before the start date are non-refundable but may be transferred as credit toward future classes or services, subject to availability.

  • Missed Sessions: We are unable to offer partial refunds or make-up sessions for missed classes within a multi-week cohort.

  • Cancellations by Boston Birth Village: If a class or event is canceled due to severe weather, instructor illness, or emergency, we will offer a rescheduled date or a full refund for that session.

 

4. Doula Service Agreements

Specific terms governing birth and postpartum doula services—including retainer fees, backup doula coverage, on-call periods, refund policies, and emergency protocols—are detailed in your individual Client Service Contract executed upon booking. In the event of any conflict between these general Terms and Conditions and your signed Client Service Contract, the terms of your signed contract will govern.

 

5. Members Portal & Community Guidelines

When accessing our Members Portal, File Share, or interactive community groups, you agree to foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.

 

A. User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account login credentials.

  • You agree not to upload, post, or share any content that is offensive, harmful, defamatory, or violates the privacy or intellectual property rights of others.

 

B. Respect & Confidentiality

  • What is shared in our parent circles and private member forums stays in the village. You agree to respect the personal stories, identities, and privacy of fellow parents.

  • Boston Birth Village reserves the right to suspend or terminate portal access for any user who violates community guidelines or engages in respectful or disruptive behavior.

 

6. Intellectual Property & File Share Policy

All content on this website—including logos, branding, website copy, class workbooks, downloadable PDFs, templates, and guides—is the intellectual property of Boston Birth Village.

  • Limited License: Materials accessed via our website or File Share library are provided for your personal, non-commercial use only.

  • Restrictions: You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, or create derivative works from any of our materials without prior written permission from Boston Birth Village.

 

7. Gift Cards & Loyalty Program

  • Gift Cards: Boston Birth Village gift cards are redeemable toward classes, workshops, and doula packages. Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash except where required by law.

  • Loyalty Program: Perks, discounts, and rewards offered through our Loyalty Program are non-transferable, subject to change, and hold no cash value.

 

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Boston Birth Village, its owners, employees, contractors, and doulas shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages resulting from:

  • Your use of, or inability to use, our website, materials, or digital portals.

  • Reliance on educational information provided on the site or during community sessions.

  • Unforeseen technical interruptions, site errors, or data loss.

 

9. Third-Party Links & Services

Our platform may contain links to external websites, medical studies, or local community resources. We do not endorse, control, or accept responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party websites.

 

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Middlesex County or Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
