Introducing Lactation Maven: A Proud Sponsor the Climb

We’re thrilled to spotlight one of our valued sponsors of the 2024 Team Boston Climb, Lactation Maven. Read on to meet their founder, Christine Curley, along with what inspired the founding of the organization and what they want new parents to know!

Tell me about yourself and your business, Lactation Maven?

I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant ( IBCLC) providing in-home as well as tele-health lactation consults. Lactation Maven provides unbiased and individualized breastfeeding support to meet the goals of each mother on their breastfeeding journey.

What inspired the founding of Lactation Maven?

Many years of experience working as a NICU nurse and IBCLC in the NICU allowed me the ability to understand the feeding needs of the most intricate infants and what can prevent breastfeeding from evolving for both the mother and the infant. This insight has been the inspiration to provide lactation support for mother-baby dyads experiencing breastfeeding difficulties as they transition to home.

What would you want new parents to know about your services?

My breastfeeding services are reimbursable by most insurance companies including: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, MGB, and Tufts, and I am in network with Aetna health insurance.   Please contact the phone number on the back of your health insurance card for more information.

Why are you excited to be a sponsor of the Climb?

I am excited to be a sponsor of the Climb because mental health is everything. Breastfeeding can be hard and when it is not going well it can contribute to feelings of sadness, frustration, and negative self-talk that can negatively impact mental health.

Lactation Maven is proud to serve the Boston Birth Village community, providing essential lactation services to mother-baby dyads. To learn more or to reach out for support, visit their website at lactationmaven.com and head to the "Contact Us" page.

The Climb is the world's largest event raising funds and awareness for the mental health of new families, and is operated by Postpartum Support International (PSI). PSI provides direct peer support to families, trains professionals, and provides a bridge to connect them. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth, affecting 1 in 7 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers. Join Boston Birth Village along with our amazing sponsors and community partners, on October 27 from 11 - 12:30pm to raise awareness and walk to support the mental health of new families!
