The Wisdom We Share: From One Mom to Another

Motherhood is so much easier when we don’t do it alone. At Boston Birth Village, we know that some of the best parenting advice doesn’t come from books or experts—it comes from other moms who get it. Whether you’re surviving sleepless nights, navigating toddler tantrums, or holding back tears as your little one heads off to school, one thing’s for sure: You’re not alone.
Over the last two years, our moms’ groups have become a place to laugh, vent, swap tips, and just be real about this wild ride of parenting. Here are some gems of wisdom shared by moms who’ve been there:
1. Don’t Let the ‘Shoulds’ Steal Your Joy.
It’s so easy to feel like you should be doing more—more activities, more routines, more of whatever social media is hyping up this week. But honestly? Motherhood isn’t about following a checklist. Give yourself permission to do what works for your family.
2. Ask for Help (and Actually Accept It!).
Being a mom doesn’t mean you have to do it all alone. Whether it’s leaning on your partner, calling a friend, or saying “yes” when someone offers to watch the baby for an hour—take the help. It doesn’t make you any less of a supermom; it just makes you human.
3. Comparison is the Thief of Joy.
Every mom is different. Every kid is different. And that’s okay! Trust your gut, put the phone down when scrolling starts to stress you out, and remember that your version of parenting is exactly right for your family.
4. Give Yourself Some Grace.
There will be days when you feel like you’re crushing it, and days when you barely make it through. Both are normal. Be as kind to yourself as you would be to a friend. You’re doing so much better than you think.
5. Find Your People.
Motherhood is a lot easier (and a lot more fun) when you have a solid support system. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, who don’t judge, and who remind you that you’re doing an amazing job—even on the messy days.
At Boston Birth Village, we’re all about creating spaces where moms can connect, support each other, and grow together. We’d love to hear from you! What’s the best piece of mom-to-mom advice you’ve ever received? Drop it in the comments or come hang out with us at one of our upcoming groups!
